The Mountaineer Area Council Distinguished Citizen Dinner is the premiere fundraising event in support of Boy Scouts of America (BSA) programs in North Central West Virginia. Not only does it celebrate amazing leaders and organizations in our state, but will also showcase educators and others who are making a difference in our communities. The event will feature entertainment, live and silent auctions, a delicious meal, cash bar and more.
This is your opportunity to make a difference and support 1,000 youth involved in the BSA in North Central West Virginia. Through the BSA programs, each youth develops leadership skills, positive character, citizenship, and personal fitness. With the help of hundreds of registered adult volunteers, Scouts log service hours throughout our communities and participate in countless day, weekend, or week-long events. In 2023, 28 Scouts earned the BSA’s highest award of Eagle Scout.
Past honorees include George R. Farmer Jr., E. Gordon Gee, David C. Hardesty Jr., Bob Huggins, Hershel "Woody" Williams, David Alvarez, Steptoe & Johnson PLLC, Ben Hardesty, Mon Health System, Amy Bush, Antero Resources, Jeff Hostetler, and Diversified Energy.
The 2024 event will honor a business as well as an individual.
Additional presentations will include recognition of the Elbert K. Fretwell Outstanding Educator Awards.
